Cliff Witkowski, USA, has wanted to become an artist from an early age. After the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts he started his own advertising company (during 35 years) and recently he created G.I.Woes for Veterans.

I was born and grew up in South Bend Indiana. At a very early age I wanted to be a artist and cartoonist. I enjoyed all of the boy things about growing up. Such as playing sports, fishing and camping. After high school I joined the United States Navy to see the world and served as a recruit company commander at the Great Lakes ILL. Training Center. And aboard a U.S. destroyer in the Far East. I started drawing cartoons about all of the "fun things" that happen while serving in the military.
After serving in the Navy, I returned home and went to college. I moved to Chicago and attended the Chicago Institute of Art, the American Academy of Art and the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts.
I met and married my wife Jo, and at the age of 27 we decided to become self employed. We worked together for over 35 years in our "home studio" which was nestled on a wooded lot behind our house.
During my advertising art career I also used humor and cartooning in my projects when ever I could and created G.I. Woes while visiting the V.A. Hospital in Ft. Wayne Indiana for treatment. And while there I noticed Veterans sitting and waiting for their appointments. G.I. Woes makes fun of all of the "Fun Things"that happen to us in the military. My hope was to put them on DVD's and a website. And by being published as well. Recently my website giwoes.com was presented with a patriotic award by the U.S. VA for supporting our military.
I know that there isn't anything funny about war. But I do believe that "humor is the best medicine".
